Algeria
Algeria has had 4 constitutions. 1963, 1976, 1989 and 1996. Article 19 of the 1963 Algerian Constitution states that “the Republic guarantees freedom of the press and of other means of information, freedom of association, freedom of speech and public intervention, and freedom of assembly” (Middle East Journal, 1963) .
The current Algerian constitution of 1989, reinstated in 1996, revised in 2016 mentions the freedom of association in Title II, Chapter 1, article 54.
