Article 14 of the 2016 Constitution of the Central African Republic asserted freedom of association: "All citizens have the right to freely constitute associations, groups, societies and political parties in accordance with the texts in force. The associations, the groups, the societies and the political parties of which the activities are contrary to the public order as well as to the unity and to the cohesion of the Central African People[,] are prohibited."
