Freedom of Association | History | Article 11 of the 1978 Constitution of the Commonwealth of Dominica guarantees freedom of association, including trade union membership.

Freedom of Expression | History | Chapter I, Section 1 of the 1978 Constitution of Dominica guaranteed freedom of expression to all persons in Dominica, subject only to limitations "designed to ensure that the enjoyment of the said rights and freedoms by any person does not prejudice the rights and freedoms of others or the public interest." Chapter 1, Section 10 of that Constitution went into greater detail, both concerning the right and concerning potential limitations.

Freedom of Religion | History | After its independence from the United Kingdom in 1979, the Commonwealth of Dominica adopted its Constitution, which had been written the year prior. Article 9 deals with “Protection of conscience” and protects freedom of religion (Dominica 1978).

Freedom of the Press | History | Article 10 of the 1978 Constitution of Dominica protects the “freedom to receive ideas and information without interference, freedom to communicate ideas and information without interferences.” This is subject to several limitations, notably including those "reasonably required for the purpose of protecting the reputations, rights and freedoms of other persons or the private lives of persons concerned in legal proceedings, preventing the disclosure of information received in confidence, maintaining the authority and independence of the courts or regulating the technical administration or the technical operation of telephony, telegraphy, posts, wireless broadcasting or television."

Voting Rights and Suffrage | History | Under Chapter III, Part 1, any resident who is a birthright citizen or naturalized citizen of Dominica and is over the age of 18 has a right to suffrage via a secret and unimposed ballot unless this right has been taken away by Parliament.
