Section 3(b) of the 1968 Mauritius Independence Act, created at the independence of the state, mentinos freedom of expression along with freedom of conscience, assembly, and association. Section 12 elaborates on freedom of expression, specifying that it refers to the “freedom to hold opinions and impart ideas and information without interference.”
